Lava rock is everywhere, since this is what formed this island in the first place. This is just a small sampling of it along the drive to the condo.

In most cases the lava rock isn't as orderly as this and looks like over-turned earth piled up.

But it's not soft like earth, it's sharp and very hard to move large amounts of it. And it's everywhere in Kona - this is on the golf course!
